TDS and Parties in a Journal
A journal line on Sundry Debtors or Sundry Creditors needs the customer or supplier, so the entry shows in their statement. TDS you cut in a journal (partners' interest or remuneration) needs the person it was cut from, so it reaches the TDS register and Form 140.
- Open Accounting → Day Book → New Journal.
- On a Sundry Debtors or Sundry Creditors line, pick the customer or supplier in the Party column.
- Crediting TDS Payable? Open "TDS Cut in This Entry" and add one row per person: who, section, amount paid and TDS (add a partner's PAN once).
- The rows must add up to the TDS Payable credit. Then deposit it from TDS & TCS → challans.
