When a Bill Asks You to Check the GST

Before a bill is saved, the GST rate, cess and HSN on every line are checked against the bill date — the same checks GSTR-1 runs, so a mistake is caught before the bill goes out.

  1. Read the line and the reason shown above the total (for example "28% slab was removed").
  2. Fix the rate or HSN on the line — or on the item, so the next bill is right too — and save again.
  3. If the rate is right (your CA confirmed it), the owner, a manager or the accountant ticks "I have checked", writes why, and saves; the reason goes into the audit log.
  4. Counter bills are never stopped: the issue is noted in the audit log and shown again in GSTR-1.
